The switch into the new year - our annual review of 2024

Like every year, it's hard to believe how quickly time has passed. 2024 was the year in which we focused particularly on health and our social commitment. Together, we shared surprises, challenges and celebrations. In addition to numerous events, we were also able to introduce one or two innovations. We would like to take a moment to review the past few months with you.

Celebrating the good times together

Once again this year, all teams competed against each other in the Easter Challenge. In addition to the traditional Easter egg hunt, the teams fished for ducks and threw cans. The winning team received a challenge cup and extra money for the team event fund.

Our summer party is also a highlight every year and a celebration for friends and family. We had a great time together with a good atmosphere, cakes, a large barbecue buffet and delicious cocktails. There was also bull riding and a bouncy castle for the children and the highly motivated. As a final surprise, Handgemacht Musik performed as a live act and brought the evening to a fitting close.

Of course, the company relay was also on the program again this year. We started with a total of 5 Cyber-teams and withstood the heat and the rain. However, things were less stormy at our traditional Oktoberfest and we didn't miss out on the fun of carnival either. We celebrated the end of the year in style at our Christmas party in the Festung Mark.

Health - our most precious good

The best way to celebrate and work is healthy. That is why we have placed a stronger focus on our workplace health promotion this year. Our first health day was held in January in cooperation with ‘Barmer‘. A physiotherapist from ‘Aktivaria’ carried out a foot and gait analysis and at the Brainfood station from the ‘Studio für Ernährungsberatung’, we not only had delicious, healthy snacks, but also valuable information and tips.

Vision and hearing tests were offered at our second health day in April. The tests were carried out by two experts from Fielmann. Clear vision and open ears should be guaranteed from now on. Anyone who wanted to could also get advice on the subject of workplace glasses.

In December, our third health day followed. As dermatologist appointments are particularly rare, we were visited by a dermatologist from Heigel GmbH, who carried out a personal skin screening. By taking part in the check-up, changes or skin diseases can be detected at an early stage.

Even though the activities are voluntary, they were used in large numbers by all colleagues. In addition to the health days, we were also able to offer flu vaccinations for the first time this year. As a result, some colleagues were able to save themselves an additional appointment with the doctor thanks to our company preventive measures.

 

Upgrades for our head office

After completing the second warehouse last year, the finishing touches were put to the premises this year. In addition to finalizing the material warehouse, IT and part of the warehouse team were also able to move into their new offices and workstations. We also put a lot of hard work and sweat into the relaunch of our online store. In addition to revising the design, we also optimized the mobile version, account security and loading time.

 

Sustainability in the corporate context

We love green IT, which is why we have focused on refurbishing and reselling used IT hardware. However, refurbishment is only a small contribution to protecting our natural resources and the climate. For this reason, our philosophy is also to have a sustainable impact regionally. This year, for example, we supported ‘Otto pflanzt! ‘ with €500 for tree planting in and around Magdeburg. In this context, we also supported the Cleaning Award organized by the association. Young people diligently collected garbage at ‘Schellheimer Platz‘ and ‘Moritzplatz‘ to make Magdeburg a little cleaner. We were also able to gain ‘Notnagel‘ as a new partner and now obtain reconditioned Euro pallets from them for our shipping. This gives the pallets a second or third life and we save valuable resources.

Happiness is the only thing that doubles when you share it

Regional and social support is particularly important to us, which is precisely why we focus on this when choosing our donation and sponsorship projects. In addition to the donation for ‘Otto pflanzt!‘, we support the OK Live Ensemble with the purchase of new costumes. We were also able to make the children at the Kita Gut Arnstedt happy by donating to the purchase of a new swing.

We are also happy to support sports projects. For example, the Fritz Fit Kinderolympiade in Barleben. We also gave the mayor of Barleben a budget for a good cause of his choice for his birthday. The €150 went to SG Eintracht Ebendorf in the form of a Decathlon voucher.

As we are always happy to support our colleagues in matters close to their hearts, we donated toys for the children at the summer party at Ankas Gnadenhof. We also sponsored the Germania Olvenstedt youth team in the form of new tracksuits, as our colleague's son plays there. The donation for the Little Monsters Run was also part of the so-called employee sponsorship. One of our colleagues and his girlfriend are helping to organize and run the event.

Our Team

In addition to expanding our health promotion program, we have also revised our internal anniversary boxes. Our team colleagues receive these on every cyber anniversary. They contain, for example, sweets, a voucher, a company gadget and a very personal letter. Since this year, everyone also receives a personalized Lego figure of themselves. For every cyber year to come, you will receive another brick for your own success step on your anniversary. We also conducted a survey with our team to find out what they like to do in their free time and what else motivates them. Growing together

In 2024, we were able to develop further in many areas. Whether it was occupational health, regional engagement or an optimized online store - we were able to overcome all challenges and can look back on a good year. What does 2025 have in store for us? Definitely a lot of surprises. However, we want to continue to focus on promoting occupational health management. We also want to further reduce our ecological footprint and promote sustainable decisions and projects. No matter what challenge awaits us, we know that together we can overcome any hurdle. #Let's Live IT
